Sustainable Fashion

In just the last two years, my passion and interest in living a sustainable lifestyle has led me to become more conscious of what I am purchasing. I have become increasingly aware of the fashion industry’s impact on the environment, especially since it is one of the largest polluting industries in the world. This is subject to dispute of course because there are many factors and facilities that contribute to the production of garments.

However, there are some disagreements about addressing this issue on a global scale, as most sustainable and ethical fashion companies sell their clothing for higher prices to pay their workers fairly and to make quality products. I have noticed that consuming less clothing and purchasing clothes from consignment or thrift stores are the best ways to reduce our carbon footprint. The fast fashion industry creates a lot of solid waste, pollutes water and air, and feeds into the rise of unstoppable consumerism so it is important for all of us to make a change.

I hope this inspires you to make some changes in your life and to find a way to still enjoy being fashionable while still caring for the planet! Here are some links to brands that sell used clothing or produce sustainable and ethical clothing.
